Red Sox place RHP Brendan Donnelly on 15-day disabled list; Recall RHP Manny Delcarmen from Pawtucket

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Brendan Donnelly on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 11, with a right forearm muscle strain.

To replace Donnelly on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Manny Delcarmen (#17) has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket of the International League.

The announcement was made by Red Sox Executive Vice President/General Manager Theo Epstein.

Delcarmen is 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 20 relief appearances with the PawSox this season. He has pitched 15.2 scoreless innings with 17 strikeouts in his last ten outings with Pawtucket. He last worked on June 15 against Richmond, pitching one scoreless inning.

This will be Delcarmen's second tour of duty with Boston in 2007. He was with the Red Sox from May 21-28, pitching one scoreless inning in his only appearance on May 21 at the New York Yankees.

Delcarmen is 2-0 with a 4.69 ERA in 61 career major league appearances, all with Boston, from 2005-07. The righthander was 2-0, 5.06 in 50 games with the Red Sox in 2006.

Donnelly is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in 27 relief appearances with the Red Sox this season.
