Aguilas de Mexicali
THE WEEK IN REVIEW: The Aguilas went 2-4 this week and are in last place with a 10-25 record.

WHO'S HOT: Alfredo Caudillo gave up four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 shutout innings in two appearances. The 19-year-old tossed five frames for a win on Nov. 18 against Navojoa. ... Hernando Arredondo played in only three games, but went 6-for-13 (.462) with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. ... Brian Stokes extended his scoreless streak to 5 2/3 innings over three games. He pitched in both ends of a doubleheader on Nov. 18.

WHO'S NOT: Carlos Sievers was red-hot but cooled off a bit, going 5-for-17 to lower his batting average to .312. He homered on Nov. 17 against Navojoa for his only extra-base hit. ... Javier Robles is batting .214 (3-for-14) in his last five games, raising his average to .188. ... Marc Kaiser (Rockies) made his debut on Nov. 14 against Los Mochis and was hammered, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.

NEWS AND NOTES: The Aguilas are struggling in both hitting and pitching. Mexicali is hitting .245 while the pitching staff owns a league-worst 5.08 ERA and has yet to throw a shutout. ... Mexicali's four-game losing streak from Nov. 14-18 was its fifth skid of four or more games.

Algodoneros de Guasave
WEEK IN REVIEW: Guasave split six games and is in seventh place with a 14-21 record.

WHO'S HOT: Former Yankees farmhand Tim Lavigne has four saves over the past two weeks and hasn't allowed a run in 16 2/3 innings, lowering his ERA to 0.44. ... Ignacio Montano picked up his first win in six starts with five shutout innings in a 1-0 victory over Mazatlan on Nov. 18. ... Mario Valenzuela batted .421 with two homers and two RBIs over his first six games.

WHO'S NOT: Spike Lundberg (Dodgers) suffered his fifth loss in eight games and has allowed at least three runs in seven starts. ... Noe Munoz batted .308 in October, but is 10-for-59 (.169) this month.

NEWS AND NOTES: Valenzuela hit the only homers for the Algodoneros this week. ... They gave up a season-high 11 runs to Mazatlan on Nov. 16. It was only the second time they surrendered double-digit runs.

Caneros de Los Mochis
THE WEEK IN REVIEW: Los Mochis split six games and has an 18-17 record.

WHO'S HOT: Jon Weber (Rays) went 8-for-21 (.381) with a homer and five RBIs. He also ripped four doubles and scored seven times. ... Roberto Mendez had his best game of the season on Nov. 15, going 3-for-4 with two homers, a career-high seven RBIs and three runs scored. The next day, he crushed a two-run homer, walked three times and scored twice. ... Arturo Lopez (Padres) picked up his first win since late October this week, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks while fanning five in seven innings.

WHO'S NOT: Catcher Saul Soto hit .158 (3-for-19) for the week and went hitless in his last two games. ... Francisco Rodriguez (Angels) was roughed up in two appearances, surrendering five runs on 13 hits and four walks in 6 2/3 innings.

NEWS AND NOTES: The Caneros have given up six or more runs only three times in the last 13 games. ... Los Mochis hadn't scored in double figures until it beat Mexicali, 10-4, on Nov. 4. ... In the Caneros' three wins this week, they averaged 13.3 runs, but combined for only four runs in their three losses.

Mayos de Navojoa
THE WEEK IN REVIEW: Navojoa had a 10-game winning streak snapped on Nov. 18 and went 5-1 to improve to 21-14.

WHO'S HOT: Abel Martinez batted .318, going 7-for-22 with three doubles and a league-leading three stolen bases. ... Scott Chiasson notched two more saves -- both against Mexicali -- and is second in the league with 11. ... Barbaro Canizares had an eight-game hitting streak snapped, but hit .421 with a .789 slugging percentage for the week.

WHO'S NOT: Oscar Rivera was charged with Navojoa's first loss in 10 games after allowing four runs on five hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. He has given up three runs or more in each of his last four appearances. ... Luis Arredondo is hitless in his last 10 at-bats over five games.

NEWS AND NOTES: Navojoa's winning streak was the second-longest of the season. Culiacan had a 13-game run from Oct. 25-Nov. 8. The Mayos have allowed a league high-tying 34 homers.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo
WEEK IN REVIEW: The Najaneros won four of six games and are in fourth place with an 18-17 record.

WHO'S HOT: Dodgers farmhand Marshall McDougall remained hot, batting .318 with two homers and four RBIs. He has six homers and 22 RBIs in 31 games. ... Former Athletics first baseman Erubiel Durazo swatted his 10th homer, second-best in the league. ... Over the last two weeks, Geronimo Gil is batting .340 with four homers and nine RBIs.

WHO'S NOT: Adam Pettyjohn (Brewers) won his first two starts, but is winless in his last five outings, going 0-3 with a 3.37 ERA. ... Jonathan Castellanos has walked 10 batters through 30 innings after giving up 19 free passes over 68 1/3 frames with Double-A Mobile this summer. .. Jose Luis Sandoval has three extra-base hits in 34 games, the last being his only homer of the season on Nov. 3.

PLAYING IT SAFE: The Naranjeros have a league-low three steals in 11 attempts this season. By comparison, Mexicali is seventh with 11 stolen bases in 35 games.

NEWS AND NOTES: Najaneros batters lead the league in homers (40), RBIs (172) and are tied for first in runs scored (177). They rank second in hits (349) and batting average (.282). Hermosillo batters have also struck out a league-low 213 times.

Tomateros de Culiacan
WEEK IN REVIEW: The week was a reversal of fortunes for the Tomateros, who dropped four straight en route to a 1-5 record, but remained in first place at 23-12.

WHO'S HOT: Giancarlo Alvarado continued his strong season with a solid performance against Hermosillo on Nov. 17, yielding two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and a season-high five walks over 7 2/3 innings. ... Francisco Felix, who appeared in 39 games for Class A Great Lakes and Advanced A Inland Empire, has a 1.00 ERA over 18 relief innings.

WHO'S NOT: Karim Garcia cooled off, hitting .210 with one homer and two RBIs this week. He went hitless in three straight games. ... Casey McGehee (Cubs), who drove in 17 runs in his first 25 games, has no RBIs or extra-base hits in his last seven contests. ... Reliever Jose Silva (3-1) suffered his first loss on Nov. 15 against Navajoa, walking two and yielding a game-winning single.

NEWS AND NOTES: Culiacan pitchers dropped to third in ERA (3.66) after allowing 34 earned runs over 50 innings (6.12) this week. ... Tomateros hitters lead the league with 135 walks, but have only 289 hits and a league-high 266 strikeouts.

Venados de Mazatlan
WEEK IN REVIEW: The Venados went 2-4 and dropped into sixth place with a 17-18 record.

WHO'S HOT: Rangers prospect Randy Williams reeled off three straight wins and has a 1.87 ERA in 19 2/3 innings over that span. ... Former Angels prospect Robert Saucedo had a two-homer, seven-RBI performance against Guasave on Nov. 16. He hit at a .458 clip with nine RBIs for the week. .. Hector Navarro has allowed five earned runs over 32 2/3 frames for a 1.38 ERA. That included six innings of one-hit ball in a 13-0 blanking of Obregon on Nov. 15.

WHO'S NOT: After four straight wins, Walter Silva dropped his last two starts, despite yielding one run on six hits over seven innings against Guasave on Nov. 18. ... Despite giving up one run on four hits in seven innings this week, Atlanta prospect Sergio Valenzuela is 0-2 with a 3.08 ERA in five starts. He has allowed nine earned runs over 26 1/3 frames after surrendering 56 runs over 72 innings between Class A Rome and Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach.

NEWS AND NOTES: Mazatlan pitching has yielded the fewest runs (130), earned runs (114) and homers (22). They have also given up just 296 hits and 110 walks, but have struck out a league-low 198 batters.

Yaquis de Obregon
THE WEEK IN REVIEW: For the second week in a row, Obregon went 4-2, giving it a 19-16 record.

WHO'S HOT: Carlos Valencia led the league in hitting for the week, batting .500 (9-for-18) with four RBIs. ... Andres Meza won both his starts this week and extended his scoreless streak to 18 2/3 innings after allowing eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 12 2/3 frames. ... Manny Acosta (Braves) picked up saves in two of his three appearances.

WHO'S NOT: Isauro Pineda coughed up six runs on seven hits in one inning of a 13-0 loss to Mazatlan on Nov. 15. ... Rangers prospect Jason Botts went 5-for-21 (.238) in his last six games, dropping his batting average to .303, the lowest it has been since Oct. 19. ... Manuel Velez went 0-for-19 this week.

NEWS AND NOTES: The Yaquis won four of six games despite being outscored 28-22 this week.
