07/21/2006 7:22 PM ET
The Phillie Phanatic will be starring in his first direct-to-DVD movie, The Phillie Phanatic Goes Hollywood, and will be celebrating with a unique DVD release party on Friday, July 28, at 5 p.m., at McFadden's at the Ballpark (prior to the Phillies vs. Marlins game at 7:05 p.m.). The event, which is open to the public, will feature the star himself arriving in a limo, a red carpet introduction complete with paparazzi and some of the area's famous local mascots in attendance.

Then at 6:30 p.m., a special movie premiere will take place on the field with another grand Hollywood entrance by the Phanatic. Fans will also be treated to a ten-minute clip of the Phanatic's new movie on PhanaVision, as well as a The Phillie Phanatic Goes Hollywood DVD giveaway for children 14 years and younger.

The Phanatic is the only professional baseball mascot to star in a direct-to-DVD, as well as a direct-to-video movie (Channel Surfin' Phanatic - released in 1998). The Phillie Phanatic Goes Hollywood is released by Hart Sharp Video and the Phillies.

In The Phillie Phanatic Goes Hollywood, the iconic Phillies mascot takes his wild and crazy act to Hollywood in an effort to make and star in his own movie. As it turns out, the movie he directs is a remake of a classic that can only be filmed right in his own back yard-Philadelphia!
