Ordaz placed on disabled list

Luis Ordaz, who had to leave the Devil Rays' opener on Monday against the Orioles, was put on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday due to bruising under his left knee cap.

To take Ordaz's place, the Devil Rays have selected infielder Russell Branyan from Triple-A Durham.

Meanwhile, shortstop Julio Lugo, whom Ordaz filled in for after Lugo left Monday's game with a left oblique strain, remains day-to-day.
