American League winners of the 2004 Rawlings Gold Glove Award were announced Tuesday evening. Detroit catcher Ivan Rodriguez won his 11th Gold Glove, while Toronto's Vernon Wells and Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees each picked up his first.

Boone won for the third consecutive year and fourth overall. He won the award for National League second basemen as a member of the Cincinnati Reds in 1998. In 1,308 innings last season, he made 14 errors and recorded a .978 fielding percentage.
