Miranda, Schafer lift Javs to victory
Duo plates seven combined runs in 14-2 rout of Saguaros

Miranda singled and scored in the fourth inning and smacked a two-run homer in the fifth to break open a one-run game. The 24-year-old first-base Yankees prospect stroked an RBI single and scored in the seventh, was hit by a pitch and scored in the eighth and plated another run with a single in the ninth. Miranda had 16 homers and 96 RBIs between Double-A Trenton and Class A Advanced Tampa during the regular season.
Schafer (Braves) doubled and scored in the third, ripped an RBI single in the fourth and blasted a two-run homer as part of a five-run fifth. The 20-year-old center fielder hit .372 in 30 games with Class A Rome before finishing the season with Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach, where he hit .294 with 10 homers and 43 RBIs and was named a Carolina League Postseason All-Star.
Jeff Clement (Mariners) went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored and Corey Wimberly (Rockies) added two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Javelinas (2-1), who collected 17 hits.
Mariners prospect Ricky Orta (1-0) struck out three and walked one in two hitless frames of relief for the win. Starter Joseph Woerman (Mariners) yielded three hits and fanned two in two innings of work.
Mike Costanzo (Phillies), who finished second in the Eastern League with 27 home runs for Double-A Reading during the regular season, smacked a solo shot in the fourth and Mike Hollimon (Tigers) went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the seventh for the Saguaros (2-1).
Tigers farmhand Burke Badenhop (0-1) allowed a run on three hits while fanning two in one inning. Saguaros starter Edwin Moreno (Padres) struck out two in two perfect innings.
