JUPITER, Fla. -- It's been a rough few days for J.T. Realmuto. On Sunday afternoon, the 26-year-old catcher bruised his lower back in the Marlins' 7-5 win over the Yankees at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
The injury occurred on a play where Realmuto was picked off by catcher Gary Sanchez. As he was scrambling back to second base, Realmuto was shaken up after tumbling over second baseman Gleyber Torres.
Realmuto walked slowly to the dugout and was tended to by assistant trainer Mike Kozak. Tomas Telis replaced Realmuto behind the plate in the fifth inning.
"Anytime you're coming out of the game like that, you're concerned," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "I guess the best thing is it's Spring Training. We've got an off-day tomorrow, and we'll find out."

Postgame, Realmuto received treatment and was not available for comment. The Marlins are off on Monday, and his status will be updated in the next couple of days.
The Marlins are calling Realmuto's ailment a low back contusion.
One of the top catchers in the game, Realmuto has endured a couple of setbacks this week. On Thursday against the Cardinals, Realmuto bruised his left knee on a foul ball. The ailment wasn't considered serious, and he sat out Friday and Saturday. Sunday was Realmuto's first game back, and there is a little more concern over the back issue.
"He didn't look good when he came off," Mattingly said. "He said when he tried to get back to the base, there was nowhere to go. He twisted. He said he felt a little funky in his back. We'll see."
Realmuto has been among the most durable catchers the past few years, playing in 141 games in 2017 while batting .278 with 17 home runs and 65 RBIs.
Telis and Chad Wallach are the Marlins' other catching options on the 40-man roster. Miami opens its regular season on March 29 against the Cubs at Marlins Park.
