MLB to strictly enforce restricted area access
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
All Major League Clubs have been notified via a memorandum from Major League Baseball that it will strictly enforce the standards and regulations for limiting access to certain restricted areas, such as the clubhouses, dugouts and playing fields, at all Major League facilities.

"Security at all of our Major League ballparks continues to be a top priority for Major League Baseball," said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig. "We strongly believe that a uniform enforcement of the security standards is crucial to maintaining a safe working environment for players, on-field and front office personnel and accredited media. There will be absolutely no exceptions to these regulations and Major League Clubs will be held responsible if they are not enforced."

Following is a partial listing of security regulations that are in effect for the restricted areas.

  • The restricted areas include: playing fields, dugouts, clubhouses, managers' offices, shower rooms, and trainers' and doctors' rooms.
  • Only the following groups may be granted full or partial access to the areas listed above: players, MLBPA representatives, managers, coaches, trainers, Club physicians, accredited media, Commissioner's Office representatives and designated Club personnel.
  • Other persons such as friends, associates, agents, attorneys, personal trainers, etc. may NOT be granted access to the restricted areas. Credentials that would permit access to those restricted areas may NOT be issued to such prohibited persons.
