MLB posts record attendance in first four weeks of the season
Attendance increases 15.1 percent from last season
Average Major League Baseball attendance through the first four weeks of the 2004 season (363 dates) was 29,363, representing the highest average attendance over that period since detailed attendance data was first recorded in 1980. The only other seasons in which average attendance topped 29,000, after 363 dates, were 2001 (29,197) and 1993 (29,139).
Major League Baseball drew 10,658,746 fans in 363 dates through games of Sunday, May 2, an increase of 15.1% from last season's total during the same period (9,262,976). This season's average attendance of 29,363 marks an increase of 3,845 fans per game from 2003 (25,518).
