MLB.com's Fantasy Baseball "Opening Day" offers fans great content, new games
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

NEW YORK -- Play Ball! With those traditional baseball words, MLB.com and millions of fans around the world today celebrated the first ever Opening Day for Fantasy Baseball enthusiasts. What used to be a hobby for millions of fantasy players around the globe is now an official event.

During today's celebration, MLB.com and many of its officially licensed partners, will unveil their new and expanded 2005 fantasy offerings while providing all the tools needed to draft rosters and dominate leagues. In addition to the new and improved games MLB.com is offering today, the official website of Major League Baseball plans to introduce new games during March.

MLB.com's day-long content feast for fantasy owners includes:

  • A two-hour live video fantasy call-in show from noon till 2 p.m. ET with fantasy experts Mike Siano and Cory Schwartz to discuss top sleepers and busts at each position and answer calls and emails from fans.
  • Video fantasy previews of all 30 teams, ranging from 7-10 minutes each.
  • Stories that include tips from experts, a look back at top fantasy players of the past 25 years, and fans weighing in on the No. 1 picks of 2005. As a warm-up for today,MLB.com already has released its Fantasy Preview 2005, a fourth annual draft guide that includes must-have value rankings -- with more than 800 player bios.
  • And, of course, the Fan Forum message boards at MLB.com and the 30 club sites will be busy with fantasy owners exchanging tips and invites.
