Carl Crawford had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored, pacing the Devil Rays past the Yankees. Jorge Cantu drove in two runs, giving him 101 RBIs this season. Mark Hendrickson, who allowed just one hit through his first six innings, picked up the win.

Chien-Ming Wang, making his first start since July 8, yielded three runs on eight hits in five innings, and two New York relievers allowed three more runs in the following frame as the Yankees fell to the Devil Rays. Ruben Sierra hit a two-run homer for New York.
