Oliver Perez was solid all evening, but it looked as though his offense was a no-show. Limited to one unearned run through seven, the bats came alive in the eighth. Carlos Beltran went deep for the 18th time to lead the late surge and give Perez win No. 9.
Brett Tomko delivered his second straight solid start, but the offense was limited to a solo shot by Nomar Garciaparra against the Mets' Oliver Perez. Tomko handed a tied game over to the 'pen in the seventh, but Roberto Hernandez yielded three in the eighth to take the loss.
