Nationals 5, Brewers 1
Jeff Suppan went 5 2/3 innings in the loss. (Pablo Martinez Monsivais/AP)
By Michael Phillips / Special to MLB.com
Through five innings, Jeff Suppan was very effective. But it came undone in the sixth after the defense mishandled a potential double play, as Suppan gave up four and left with two outs. Suppan got Milwaukee's RBI, but it wasn't enough as the Brewers fell in the four-game series opener.
