In the midst of a season-high five-game losing streak and a struggling offense, manager Jerry Manuel said adamantly Tuesday he expected to sit David Wright, and possibly Gary Sheffield. Sheffield is out of Wednesday's lineup, but Wright -- who has only sat one game this season -- is in.

A stunning, 11th-hour error on Friday by former Gold Glove Award-winning second baseman Luis Castillo cost the Mets a victory, saddling them with an unfathomable 9-8 defeat to the Yankees in the first intracity Interleague engagement this season. Castillo dropped an almost-routine pop by Alex Rodriguez in short right field with two outs, and his error allowed the Yankees to the score the final two runs of the game.
