A star-studded lineup representing nearly every corner of the sports world descended on Tampa, Fla., this week for the 11th Annual Derek Jeter Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at Avila Golf & Country Club.

The three-day event, which included a kick-off party, sponsor tournament and celebrity tournament, raised more than $1 million for Derek Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation.

"The Celebrity Golf Classic is something I look forward to every year, because it's a great opportunity to enjoy some time on the golf course while also having a positive impact on the lives of young people," said Jeter, who created the Turn 2 Foundation in 1996. "Turn 2 helps thousands of kids each year to do live healthy lifestyles, excel in school and serve as role models in their communities, and the money we will raise at this event will allow us to further that mission."

The funds raised at the event will help further the Turn 2 Foundation's mission of promoting healthy lifestyles among young people in New York, West Michigan and Tampa.

Launch Party

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Derek Jeter kicked off the Golf Classic with the highly anticipated Launch Party at the Hard Rock Café in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Jeter was joined by celebrity guests, sponsors and supporters for a unique and memorable cocktail reception, capped off with a check presentation by John Fontana, president of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the event's presenting sponsor.

"Seminole Hard Rock's support of Turn 2 Foundation is unwavering due to their tireless efforts to help our youth," Fontana said. "We're so proud to be presenting sponsors once again for the 11th annual Golf Classic."

At the Launch Party, attendees enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, dancing and a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia donated by Steiner Sports Memorabilia to benefit the Turn 2 Foundation. The evening ended with an unforgettable performance by Grammy Award winner, Ne-Yo.

Sponsor Tournament

On Thursday, Jan. 16, foursomes participated in the shamble-format Sponsor Tournament at TPC of Tampa Bay. Following the tournament, the 18th hole hosted the annual Derek Jeter Celebrity Shootout, with the top two winning donations to charities of their choosing.

This year's winner, Brittany Lincicome, earned $5,000 for First Tee of St. Petersburg, while Greg Jennings won $2,500 for The Greg Jennings Foundation. Celebrity attendees also competed in a "Closest-to-the-Pin" shootout, with Albert Pujols taking top honors.

Following a day of golfing, the Avila Golf & Country Club welcomed the celebrities, sponsors and supporters for dinner and the exciting live celebrity auction, where competitors bid on the chance to have their favorite stars join their foursomes for the week's main event.
