Jeter Meter
The Jeter Meter is an incentive based program designed to promote a healthy-lifestyle for children through physical fitness in a school-based setting. The program is a partnership among: the Turn 2 Foundation, The New York Road Runners Foundation, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and the participating New York City Public Schools who are the current schools in our Healthy Schools, Healthy Families program. About 4,000 students from five New York City schools will participate in the program this year. The Jeter Meter Program goal is to promote physical fitness and healthier lifestyles in students by motivating them to run or walk a minimum of 1/2 mile three to five times a week, adding up to at least 105 miles during the school year. The children will use Jeter Meter cards to keep track of their mileage goals. Once they reach their goals, prizes will be awarded to the students as well as the classes and schools with the most miles. Congratulations to PS 206, the 2006-2007 Jeter Meter Champions with an average of 29.5 miles per student! Partners:
