Giants slumber party ::::::

8:41 a.m. PT: Despite the availability of plenty of tables and chairs, most people chose to eat in the Giants dugout. Breakfast is now over, and Tito Fuentes and Greg Minton are headed out. Minton was perplexed that so many people, especially kids, had baseball cards stretching across his career -- little did he know they were being distributed by a Giants staff member so fans could get him to autograph them. Team photographer Brian Bisio, who celebrated his birthday with the campers at midnight, documents the packing-up process as hits of the '80s continue to play over the PA. When Michael Bolton blares out "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You," it seems maybe this is a subtle way of encouraging people to leave. A majority of the camps do appear to be packed up, and a fair number of people have headed for home. But a good number remain and continue to play catch and the games still set up around the warning track. Many of the kids are still in their pajamas. You get the feeling that they'd stay until the Giants return home next weekend if they could. While sleep may have been in short supply, smiles are plentiful this morning. We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the Second Annual Giants Slumber Party and SBC Park after hours. Thanks for reading! previous entry » |
