Kirby enters his eighth season as the Orioles First Base Coach…Spent five seasons (2006-10) with the Texas Rangers as the organization's Outfield and Baserunning Coordinator…Kirby was a member of Cleveland's player development staff in the four years (2002-05) before joining Texas…He began his coaching career in 2002 as a Hitting Coach for Rookie-level Burlington, then was a Hitting Coach for Class-A Lake County in 2003...He spent 2004 as a Hitting Coach with Class A-Advanced Kinston and was the Hitting Coach for Double-A Akron in 2005 before joining Texas in 2006.


Selected in the 13th round of the 1983 First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and played professionally for 18 seasons…Spent six seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1991-96), batting .256 with 13 home runs and 104 RBI in 379 games...Claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on June 24, 1996 and batted .245 in 111 games with Los Angeles through 1997…Batted .200 in 15 postseason at-bats for American League pennant-winner Cleveland in 1995 and Los Angeles in 1996…Led American League outfielders with 19 assists in 1993 (13 in right field, four in center field, and two in left field)…Recorded his first Major League hit September 17, 1991 with an RBI-double off Detroit's Walt Terrell that scored Jim Thome at Cleveland Stadium…Hit his first Major League home run on September 15, 1992 off Duane Ward at SkyDome in Toronto…Had the game-winning hit in the 11th inning in the first game at Jacobs Field, April 4, 1994 vs. Seattle.


Kirby and his wife, Cara, reside in Las Vegas, NV with their daughters, Caylee and Cabria, and their son, Caden…His younger brother, Terry, played 10 seasons in the NFL (1993-2002) for Miami, San Francisco, Cleveland, and Oakland... Each year, Kirby supports the Baltimore Orioles Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program with several clinics, including one for RBI head coaches and the Baltimore City Clinic.
