Josh Miller was named the Astros bullpen coach on Nov. 21, 2018. This year marks his 13th season with the Astros and his first at the Major League level. Miller joins the coaching staff after spending last season as the organization's pitching coordinator. He also served as the Astros complex pitching coordinator for two seasons from 2016-17, overseeing the Astros pitching programs at their complex in West Palm Beach, Fla. Miller began his coaching career in 2013 as a pitching coach at Rookie Level Greeneville, which followed a two-year stint as a pro scout for the Astros. He spent three total seasons as Greeneville's pitching coach, helping to lead the club to an Appalachian League Championship title in 2015. A veteran of seven minor league seasons in the Phillies (2001-2003) and Astros (2005-08) organizations, Miller was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the 32nd round of the June 2001 draft out of North Carolina State University. During his 10 combined seasons in the minors and Independent leagues (2004-05, 2009-10), he posted a 67-55 record and a 4.01 ERA. Miller makes his offseason home in West Palm Beach, Fla., with his wife, Danielle, who is a certified nurse midwife.
