Arizona Fall League announces Week One "Hitter and Pitcher of the Week" (Oct. 13-17)

Scottsdale, Arizona – After the completion of the first week of play, the Arizona Fall League has announced its “NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week” for games during the October 13-October 17 timeframe.

Hitter of the Week: Salt River Rafters 3B Brett Baty (NYM)

After playing in four games for the Rafters, MLB Pipeline’s #45 prospect recorded seven hits in his first 14 Arizona Fall League at-bats. Going into week number two, Baty carries a four-game hitting streak highlighted by a 3-for-3 performance on Opening Day. During his first week, Baty collected 11 total bases alongside two doubles and a triple while recording two RBI and five runs scored. He currently leads the league in average (.500) and OPS (1.417) through week one out of all eligible players.

Pitcher of the Week: Surprise Saguaros RHP Owen White (TEX)

On Thursday, White tossed five innings of shutout ball, allowing only two hits in the process. The Texas Rangers second round draft pick in 2018 limited the Salt River Rafters to a .118 batting average against while striking out five of the 19 batters he faced.

AFL games will be held at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2021 season - Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium. The 15th annual Fall Stars Game (Saturday, November 13th) and AFL Championship Game (Saturday, November 20th) will be played at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.
