Statement from Mets CEO Fred Wilpon regarding the passing of Harry Minor

"We are saddened to learn of the passing of long-time Mets scout Harry Minor. Harry was key part of our organization for many years. He helped build our championship teams in the 80s, including the World Series team in 1986. Harry was a Mets legend who touched the lives of countless players, including those he scouted such as Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry and Mookie Wilson among others. We extend our condolences to his wife, Liz and son, Bob."
 
NOTES ON HARRY MINOR'S CAREER

• Worked for the Mets for 44 years.
• Was presented with the 2013 Mets Hall of Fame Achievement Award. That award honors those whose outstanding dedication and service left an indelible mark on the organization.
• Named the Scout of the Year in 1996 and was presented with the George Genovese Lifetime Achievement Award in Scouting from the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation in 2007.
