ARLINGTON -- Taylor Ward's first career home run and Shohei Ohtani's pinch-hit, three-run blast highlighted a five-run seventh inning that vaulted the Angels to an 11-7 win over the Rangers in a game that stretched into early Sunday morning following a rain delay of two hours and 26 minutes at Globe Life Park.
After the Rangers erased a four-run deficit and came back to tie the game at 6, the Angels' bats erupted for another big inning against reliever Eddie Butler. David Fletcher and Justin Upton led off the inning with back-to-back singles, and Jose Pujols brought in the go-ahead run with an RBI single to left field.
Ohtani then broke the game open by launching a three-run home run to center field that made it 10-6. It was Ohtani's 13th home run of the season and his second as a pinch-hitter.

Two batters later, Ward ended a nine-pitch at-bat against Butler by hammering a 2-2 fastball out to the bullpens in left-center field, staking the Angels a five-run lead. The 24-year-old third baseman is 6-for-18 with four RBIs in five games since debuting with the Angels on Tuesday.
"I think he's picked up where he left off down in Triple-A," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He was having a great season. Certainly, he's showing the potential to be a really good offensive third baseman. He's certainly not overmatched."

Pujols also homered and finished 3-for-4 with a season-high four RBIs, while Fletcher went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
"We drove the ball well tonight, and we needed it," Scioscia said. "Our guys really stepped up. It was sloppy conditions out there. You guys saw the outfield. We were a little afraid out there with some guys, but they kept playing and they played through it. We got some big hits from some guys."
Andrew Heaney came away with a no-decision after giving up six runs on 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings, continuing a string of uneven performances on the road for the 27-year-old left-hander. Heaney is 0-5 with a 5.37 ERA in 12 road starts this season, compared to 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA at Angel Stadium.
"Andrew was just a tick off early," Scioscia said. "He didn't really get his changeup going like he can. He threw some good breaking balls. He got almost through six, which was going to be important for us. Not as crisp as he was last start."

Heaney also had to contend with the elements, as rain continued to fall through most of his outing, though he said the conditions were "not too bad."
"The first inning, it was raining a little bit harder," Heaney said. "Other than that, it was fine. It was a little bit sloppy, but it was sloppy for everybody."
The Rangers led, 1-0, just three pitches into the game after Rougned Odor doubled and scored on Elvis Andrus' single, but the Angels tied it in the second on Pujols' solo shot off left-hander Martin Perez. Pujols' 633rd career home run and 19th of the season traveled a projected 430 feet out to left-center field, according to Statcast™.

Texas briefly broke the deadlock on Carlos Tocci's two-out RBI single in the second, though the Angels countered with a two-run single up the middle from Pujols to go ahead, 3-2, in the third. They expanded their lead in the fourth after Jefry Marte, Ward and Eric Young delivered three consecutive singles off Perez, setting up a bases-clearing double from Fletcher that made it 6-2.

But Heaney allowed the four-run lead to slip away in the bottom of the fourth. After yielding a leadoff single to Joey Gallo, Heaney issued a two-out walk to Tocci, the Rangers' No. 9 hitter, to bring up Odor with runners on first and second. Odor promptly lined a single to center field to bring in Gallo.
Heaney then appeared to whiff Andrus for the third out, but the ball skipped past catcher Rene Rivera for a wild pitch, allowing Tocci to score and Andrus to reach first. Adrian Beltre subsequently capitalized by blooping a two-run single to shallow right field to tie the game at 6.

Heaney's streak of 17 consecutive road starts without a win is the longest in Angels history, breaking the mark previously held by Rudy May (1965-69). His last road victory came on Sept. 2, 2015 at Oakland.

Rookie Jaime Barria (8-7, 3.50 ERA) will take the mound for the Angels Sunday as they close out their four-game series against the Rangers at 12:05 p.m. PT at Globe Life Park. Texas is expected to counter with Yovani Gallardo (7-2, 6.39 ERA). Barria is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in his two starts against the Rangers this season. The 22-year-old right-hander ranks second among American League rookies in wins and fifth in ERA (minimum 50 innings pitched).
