Angels host Cleveland and Oakland in six-game homestand

The Angels will host Indians and A's to kick off 2018 home schedule

The Angels host their first homestand after beginning the season in Oakland. The homestand starts Monday at 7:07 p.m. vs. the Indians (Monday, April 2 - Wednesday, April 4). Following the three game series and an off day, the homestand will conclude with the Athletics (Friday, April 6 - Sunday, April 8). Below is a look at the notable events and ceremonies taking place at Angel Stadium during the homestand:

Below is a look at the notable events and ceremonies taking place at Angel Stadium during the homestand:

 

HOME OPENER

  • On April 2, fans in attendance will be greeted by an Opening Day band to kick off celebrations.
  • Prior to first pitch, the U.S. ARMY Color Guard will be in attendance to lead the flag unfurl. The U.S. Air Force C-17s will also fly over the stadium during the National Anthem.

 

 

CEREMONIES

  • Prior to Friday's game, the Angels will honor Justin Upton for winning his third career Silver Slugger Award. He was acquired by the Angels on Aug. 31, 2017 from Detroit and completed his 11th big league campaign in 2017 with a combined batting average of .273 (152/557) with 100 runs, 44 doubles, 35 home runs and 109 RBI.
  • Prior to Saturday's game, the Angels will honor Martín Maldonado and Andrelton Simmons for each earning an American League Gold Glove Award. Maldonado became just the third Angels backstop to win after pacing the Majors in games (137) and leading the A.L. with a 38.7 caught stealing percentage and a .998 fielding percentage, second-best by a catcher in franchise history. Simmons became the fourth Angels shortstop to win after posting a .980 fielding percentage, committing just 14 errors in 685 total chances and leading the Majors with 32 defensive runs saved.

 

FIRST PITCH

  • On Tuesday, April 3, Takuma Sato, the first Japanese driver to win the Indy 500, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
  • Also prior to Tuesday's game, Captain Morgan from Captain Morgan Rum, will be throughout the stadium to interact with fans as well as throw out a first pitch.

 

COLLEGE NIGHTS

  • On Friday, April 6, the Angels host Fullerton College night. Festivities include a tailgate near The Big A and group hat redemptions. These unique Angel hats will also feature logos from Fullerton College.
  • On Saturday, April 7, the Angels will also host University of LaVerne night and will host a group at University Village. Participants can also receive a unique Angels hat featuring University of LaVerne Angels hat.

 

THE SANDLOT 25TH ANNIVERSARY

  • On Saturday, April 6, Angels will celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot with festivities throughout the game. Director, David Mickey Evans, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Cast members, including Brandon Quintin Adams, Grant Gelt and Chauncey Leopardi, will be introduced, take over social media accounts and take part in media interviews.
  • Following the game, fans are treated to a post-game screening of the movie and Saturday Night Fireworks presented by Wells Fargo.

 

LITTLE LEAGUE APPRECIATION

  • Prior to Sunday's game, the Angels will host approximately 8,000 little leaguers to participate in a parade around the warning track.

 

GIVEAWAYS (while supplies last)

  • Upon entrance to the game on Monday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 3, fans will receive a 2018 Wall Calendar presented by US Bank.
  • Fans in attendance on Friday, April 6, will receive the Pujols Countdown to 3,000 Action Figure presented by Muscle Maker Grill.
