SAN FRANCISCO -- After watching Mike Yastrzemski find success in the Majors, the Giants are now set to take a shot on another former Orioles outfielder.

The Giants called up Joey Rickard from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday to replace Steven Duggar, who landed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. They also placed Shaun Anderson on the IL with a blister on his right middle finger and recalled left-handed reliever Sam Selman.

Rickard, 28, received the nod over fellow Triple-A outfielders Chris Shaw and Jaylin Davis, partly because he can play all three outfield positions and bats right-handed. He's also performed well since being claimed off waivers from the Orioles in June, slashing .358/.406/.568 over 38 games with Sacramento.

A ninth-round Draft pick of the Rays in 2012, Rickard batted .245 with a .671 OPS and 19 home runs over 317 games in four seasons with Baltimore.

"He's got some experience," manager Bruce Bochy said. "More than anything, he's earned it. We had a couple of other names we talked about, but with [Stephen] Vogt getting some action out in left field and being a left-handed bat, we just thought we'd be a little better off with a right-handed bat."

Duggar injured his left shoulder after making a diving catch Wednesday, though he avoided additional damage to his labrum, which was surgically repaired last September.

"He's going to be down for a little while," Bochy said. "It's pretty close to what we thought it was. I can't tell you how long yet, but it's going to be awhile."

Anderson departed his start after three innings Wednesday after his blister flared up, but he is expected to only miss one start. He was scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the A's, but the Giants could use Monday's off-day to skip his turn in the rotation.

Trio of top prospects promoted

Catcher Joey Bart, outfielder Heliot Ramos and right-hander Sean Hjelle have been promoted from Class A Advanced San Jose to Double-A Richmond. Bart, 22, hit .265 with a .793 OPS and 10 home runs in 57 games for San Jose. Ramos, 19, batted .306 with an .885 OPS and 13 homers in 77 games.

Hjelle, 22, began the season at Class A Augusta and earned his second promotion of the season after posting a 2.78 ERA with 74 strikeouts over 77 2/3 innings in 14 starts for San Jose.
