ARLINGTON -- Rangers starter Tyson Ross held the Angels to one run in 5 2/3 innings and three relievers made it stand up in a 5-2 victory on Saturday night at Globe Life Park. The Rangers have won the first two games of a three-game series that will end the first half for both teams.
"It was nice to get out there and pitch into the sixth inning and put the team in a position to win the game," Ross said. "It was a good series win for us, now we can go out there tomorrow and go for the sweep."
Adrian Beltre and Drew Robinson each hit a two-run homer to give the Rangers their fifth straight multihomer game, tying their longest such streak this season. The Rangers have outhomered their opponents, 47-20, in their last 21 games.

Yunel Escobar hit a solo homer in the second inning for the Angels' only run off Ross. The Angels have lost eight of their last 11 games and have fallen into third place behind the Rangers and division-leading Astros in the American League West.
"It's just something that's going to happen throughout a season," Angels starter Jesse Chavez said. "Through 162, you're going to have good weeks and bad weeks, and we haven't had this type of week in a long time."
Ross allowed four hits and two walks while striking out three in his fifth start for the Rangers. He is 2-1 with a 4.99 ERA after relievers Jeremy Jeffress, Matt Bush and Alex Claudio shut down the Angels behind him.

"I feel good," Ross said. "I still have some work to do, but I am looking forward to coming out strong in the second half."

Chavez took the loss, allowing three runs in five innings. The right-hander is now 0-4 with a 6.00 ERA in his last six games.
"They put good at-bats together," Chavez said. "I thought I made some good pitches for them to chase, and they just hit on it. You've got to tip your hat to them."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Beltre ties Yaz: Beltre gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead in the third with a two-run home run off Chavez. It was his seventh home run of the season and the 452nd of his career, tying Carl Yastrzemski for 38th place all-time.
"That barrel seems to find the ball with his strong hands and a strong pair of eyes," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said.

Robinson goes deep off Parker: Robinson is 450 home runs behind Beltre, but he has only started two games in the Major Leagues. Robinson hit a two-run home run off Angels reliever Richard Parker in the sixth. Parker entered the game having allowed two runs over 24 1/3 innings in his last 26 appearances. Robinson also homered on June 25 against the Yankees in his first Major League start. He was called up from Triple-A on Saturday.
"A lot of work went into this moment," Robinson said. "This organization has stuck with me and a lot of people helped me get to this moment, so it's pretty special to me. Being able to do it with guys I came up with and doing it here in our home ballpark with the organization I've been with from the start."

UPON FURTHER REVIEW
Cameron Maybin drew a leadoff walk from Ross in the first inning, but Ross picked him off at first a batter later. Angels manager Mike Scioscia challenged the call, but it would stand after a review of one minute, seven seconds. Scioscia's record of challenges this season fell to 9-for-18.
