Angels acquire RHP Alex Cobb & cash considerations from Baltimore

Orioles receive INF Jahmai Jones from Angels

ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired RHP Alex Cobb and cash considerations from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for INF Jahmai Jones.

Cobb, 33, owns a 3.88 ERA (917 IP – 395 ER) across 156 career games (all starts) for the Rays (2011-17) and Orioles (2018-20). His 54% career ground ball rate ranks sixth in the Majors since 2011. 

Born in Boston, MA, Cobb was raised in Vero Beach, FL, and was originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He made his Major League debut with the Rays in 2011.

Jones, 23, made his Major League debut with the Angels as a pinch-runner on Aug. 31, 2020 vs. Seattle and started the final two games of the regular season at second base. The Roswell, GA native was the Angels second round selection in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.
