Angels agree to terms with Kurt Suzuki

ANAHEIM – The Angels today have agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.5 million contract with catcher Kurt Suzuki. 

Suzuki, 37, appeared in 33 games for Washington in 2020 and ranked in the Top 5 among N.L. catchers (min. 125 PA) in average (3rd, .270), on-base percentage (4th, .349), slugging percentage (5th, .396), and OPS (5th, .745). 

A native of Wailuku, HI, Suzuki was a member of the Nationals 2019 World Series Championship team, was selected to the 2014 A.L. All-Star Team and is a two-time MLBPAA Heart and Hustle Award winner. He has compiled a .259 (1347/5205) career average with 283 doubles, 133 home runs and 699 RBI across 14 Major League seasons. 

Suzuki was originally selected by the A’s in the second round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal State Fullerton, where he was a member of the Titans 2004 College World Series Championship team.
