Yankees righty Carlos Lagrange impressed again on Friday in his second spring outing, dominating a Twins lineup in a three-inning appearance.
Lagrange, ranked as the No. 79 prospect per MLB Pipeline, allowed zero runs and one hit, while striking out four batters. In two outings this spring, the 22-year-old with a triple-digit fastball is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
"The thing I’ve been pleased with with Carlos is, obviously, the stuff jumps out at you, the big fastball and the slider/changeup are really good pitches for him, but the strike throwing’s been there,” manager Aaron Boone told the New York Post after New York's 17-5 win on Friday.
The Yankees signed the 6-foot-7, 248-pound Lagrange out of the Dominican Republic for $10,000 in February 2022. In addition to his blistering fastball, Lagrange throws a slider, cutter and changeup.
In 24 Minor League outings (23 starts) in 2025, Lagrange went 11-8 with a 3.53 ERA between High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset, striking out 168 batters in 120 innings.
