Twins get good news as Lewis' MRI comes back clean

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Twins third baseman , who was scratched from Thursday's game against the Pirates due to what the team called “tightness on his right side," underwent an MRI that came back clean.

Lewis had made the trip from Fort Myers to Bradenton and went through some of his pregame routine, but felt tightness while running the bases during warmups. He was removed from the lineup “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a team spokesperson.

Lewis, 26, is off to a strong start this spring, going 2-for-5 in his first two games with a homer in his first at-bat of Grapefruit League play. He’s coming off an inconsistent season in which he hit .237/.283/.388, and hoping to rebound after working with an outside hitting coach for the first time this winter.
