MLB’s longest active scoreless innings streak for a starting pitcher reached 22 2/3 innings on Tuesday. Its longest active on-base streak hit 37 games on Wednesday. Both belong to the same person.
It’s a convergence only one player is capable of: Shohei Ohtani, of course.
Tuesday marked the return of the two-way Ohtani show as the Dodgers superstar made his first start of the season on the mound. He threw six scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the Guardians, building on a streak that began last year, when he closed the regular season with 16 2/3 scoreless innings.
Ohtani also tallied a hit and two walks on Tuesday, then added another walk on Wednesday. He’s yet to homer in 2026, but he has reached base safely in all six games for Los Angeles, continuing the streak he carried over from the final 31 games of 2025.
Both streaks are career highs for Ohtani.
Ohtani previously had a 36-game streak that ran across parts of 2023-24. During his current streak, he’s produced a .270/.405/.584 slash with 11 homers, 30 walks, 19 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
