A 2013 Aaron Judge baseball card recently sold for a record $5.2 million. That makes it the highest publicly known sale of a modern baseball card, and the seventh-highest publicly known sale across all sports cards.
The card is a one-of-one Bowman Chrome Draft Pick Autographs Superfractor, and the final price exceeds the $3.84 million paid for Mike Trout’s 2009 Bowman Chrome Prospects autographed Superfractor in 2020, and Shohei Ohtani’s $3 million Topps Chrome Gold Logoman Autograph Card, which was sold this past December.
Fanatics Collect, which brokered the private sale, said in a statement, “We’re incredibly honored to have brokered this record-breaking deal -- and to be part of such a momentous moment in hobby history.”
The Yankees drafted Judge with the No. 32 pick in 2013. Three years later, he broke into the big leagues and began a career that, to date, has netted him three MVPs, a Rookie of the Year Award, seven All-Star selections and the worthy title of one of the best right-handed hitters in baseball history.
