Team to watch
High-A Great Lakes has one of the best outfields in the Minors with Top 100 Prospects Eduardo Quintero and Mike Sirota to go with 2025 supplemental first-rounder Charles Davalan. Fellow 2025 supplemental first-rounder Zach Root will lead the Loons mound corps along with right-hander Christian Zazueta, the Dodgers' 2025 Minor League pitcher of the year. Lefty Sterling Patick misses a lot of bats with his big-breaking curveball and slider.

Players we could see in MLB in 2026
Coming off consecutive World Series championships, Los Angeles has few obvious openings on its roster. Right-handers River Ryan and Kyle Hurt pitched well in brief stints in the Majors in 2024 before having Tommy John surgery that summer and missing all of last season. They have big stuff and should contribute to the Dodgers this year. Outfielders James Tibbs (10-for-18, three homers in his first four Triple-A games) and Ryan Ward (a Minor League-best 36 homers last year) might bash their way to the big leagues.

New faces
Root struck out eight of 10 White Sox hitters he faced during his unofficial pro debut in Spring Breakout, and he'll pitch in his first official Minor League game with Great Lakes. Right-hander Cam Leiter hasn't worked in a real game since March 2024 at Florida State because of shoulder issues that required cleanup surgery that October, but he's good to go at Single-A Ontario.

On the shelf
The system's two best pitching prospects, Ryan and left-hander Jackson Ferris, got a little extra time in extended spring training to prepare for the season. Ryan will start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday and Ferris should join the Comets next week. Likewise, outfielder Ching-Hsien Ko (quadriceps tweak) and shortstop Kellon Lindsey (shoulder impingement in 2025) also are getting extra reps before heading to Single-A Ontario by the end of the month.
