Team USA wears game-worn USA men's hockey jerseys ahead of Classic final

Team USA manager Mark DeRosa hinted a few days ago that a shipment of game-worn jerseys from the Olympic gold medal-winning USA men’s hockey team was on its way to his club.

Sure enough, those hockey jerseys have arrived in Miami, just in time for Tuesday night’s World Baseball Classic final against Venezuela, and the Americans were wearing them with pride as they entered loanDepot park this afternoon.

That’s not the only golden inspiration Team USA received Tuesday, either. DeRosa also said he got a good-luck email from Mike Eruzione, the captain of the 1980 USA men’s hockey team, which famously beat the heavily favored Soviet Union in the “Miracle on Ice” game before topping Finland for the Olympic gold medal. That stood as the USA men’s hockey team’s last Olympic gold until this year’s group triumphed at the Winter Olympics.
