Correa, Springer spark offense for Houston

HOUSTON -- The Astros were hoping for better results in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series than they received in the first game, in which they produced just three hits. The early going of Sunday's matchup at Minute Maid Park was indication of what was to come in Houston's 3-2, 11-inning victory to even the series.

The Astros struck first in the second inning, when ripped an RBI double off Yankees left-hander , who turned to his fastball more after using mostly breaking balls in the opening frame. After Houston fell behind on Aaron Judge's two-run homer in the fourth, tied the game 2-2 with a solo shot off reliever Adam Ottavino with one out in the fifth.

Springer's blast was his 12th career postseason homer -- breaking a tie with for the most in Astros franchise history.

Before that hit, Correa had been hitless over 14 at-bats since Game 3 of the AL Division Series vs. the Rays. The RBI was the 26th of Correa's career in the postseason, tying Lance Berkman for most in Astros history. Altuve also entered the game with 25.

Houston evened the ALCS after dropping Game 1 on Saturday night, 7-0. The series next moves to New York, where the Yankees will host Game 3 on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
