TSBURGH -- Astros third baseman Scott Moore exited Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Pirates in the sixth inning with a strained left groin. Moore originally wasn't in the lineup, but was added after Matt Dominguez's sore wrist kept him out of action.
Moore injured the groin fielding a bunt by Brock Holt and throwing him out at first base, and he said he felt the groin grab him on the play and knew it wasn't good.
"I actually did it [Saturday] when I started at second base, and [the Reds' Scott] Rolen hit a ball to my left side," Moore said. "I bent over to pick it up and felt something pop. My role, coming in late in games, I was able to get away with it, but today in the third inning a ball was hit hard to my glove side and I felt it pull again."
Moore, who's hitting .229 with seven homers and 21 RBIs, can only hope it's a mild strain and he's out only a few days.
"We don't have too much time left in the season, and I want to take advantage of any playing time I can get," he said.
