Out call stands on Bloomquist's throw to first base against Presley
SEATTLE -- Astros manager Bo Porter lost his second replay challenge in as many days Friday night, when the umpires ruled a close play at first base in the second inning against the Mariners would stand as an out.
Astros outfielder Alex Presley was called out at first base following a throw from shortstop Willie Bloomquist. Porter challenged Presley beat the call, but the out call stood after the umpires consulted instant replay.
On Thursday, Porter challenged a close call at first base in the seventh inning, trying to erase an infield hit that allowed two go-ahead runs to score.
Because the call stood, Porter lost his ability to challenge any plays for the remainder of the game. Starting in the seventh inning, the crew chief may choose to invoke instant replay on any reviewable call.
