Sources: Correa, Bregman contracts renewed

March 8th, 2018

The defending World Series champion Astros renewed the contracts of shortstop and third baseman , sources told MLB Network insider Jon Heyman on Thursday.
The club has not yet confirmed the news.
Correa is expected to receive $1 million in 2018, just below the $1.05 million that third baseman received in '17 from the Cubs, while Bregman is expected to earn just under $600,000.
Both Correa (2012) and Bregman ('15) were first-round Draft selections by Houston and played major roles in helping the franchise capture its first World Series title.
Correa, the 2015 American League Rookie of the Year, batted .315/.391/.550 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs in 109 games for the Astros in '17 while being named to the AL All-Star team. The 23-year-old has hit .288/.366/.498 with 66 homers and 248 RBIs in 361 games across three Major League seasons, all with the Astros.
Bregman, also 23, hit .284/.352/.475 with 19 homers and 71 RBIs in 155 games for the Astros last season. He hit a walk-off single off Dodgers closer to win World Series Game 5.
Correa and Bregman combined to hit nine homers and drive in 24 runs during the Astros' 2017 postseason run.
