Hinch: Correa unlikely to return before Monday

July 5th, 2018

HOUSTON -- Astros manager AJ Hinch said shortstop is unlikely to return from the 10-day disabled list for Houston's four-game series against the White Sox at Minute Maid Park, which begins Thursday. Correa, who is eligible to be activated, has missed nine games (including Thursday's) since being placed on the DL with back stiffness on June 26.
"I can't give you a timetable," Correa said Thursday. "We're taking it day by day. I want to make sure I'm right when I get back out there and play all the way to late October."
Correa, who is able to exercise, said he has yet to swing a bat and has not resumed baseball activities. The 2017 All-Star has not played since June 25.
The Astros' series against the White Sox begins a season-long 11-game homestand leading into the All-Star break.
"I don't know how the next 11 days are going to go," Hinch said. "I know he's probably not going to play this series. We'll get to Monday and ask me again."
