An arbitration court has sided with Carlos Correa, meaning he will earn $5 million in salary for the upcoming season. The star shortstop revealed his victory in the case via Twitter.
The Astros submitted a $4.25 million salary for Correa, who earned $1 million last season. The club also settled with reliever Chris Devenski for a one-year, $1.525 million contract with a club option for 2020 on Sunday night, thus avoiding an arbitration hearing.

Fellow Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole still has an upcoming arbitration case to be decided (Cole submitted a proposed salary of $13.5 million; the Astros submitted $11.425 million, according to The Associated Press).
This was the first year of arbitration eligibility for Correa, 24, whose back issues limited him to 110 games and a career-low .728 OPS in 2018. Still, the former American League Rookie of the Year and No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft was a major contributor to the Astros' first World Series title in 2017 and remains an emerging talent in the game.
Correa averaged 22 homers and 83 RBIs and compiled an overall league-adjusted 137 OPS+ over his first three seasons in the Majors.
MLB.com also learned on Tuesday that Rays outfielder Tommy Pham won his arbitration case against the Rays, meaning he will earn $4.1 million this season. Tampa Bay submitted a $3.5 million offer for Pham's salary, according to the AP.
