Astros to open 2014 at home against Yankees
Houston will close next season with Interleague set in New York vs. Mets
SEATTLE -- New York, New York will bookend the Astros' 2014 schedule.
The Astros, who will close this season against the Yankees at Minute Maid Park, will open their second campaign in the American League against the Bronx Bombers, beginning with an Opening Day matchup on April 1. The Astros will close the season in New York with an Interleague series against the Mets at Citi Field, Sept. 26-28.
The Astros will open at home for the 30th time in the past 36 years with three against the Yankees and four against the AL West-rival Angels. Houston's first road trip takes the club to Toronto to face the Blue Jays (April 8-10) and Arlington (April 11-13) for the first of 19 games next year against the in-state rival Rangers.
The Rangers will visit Minute Maid Park three times -- May 12-14, Aug. 8-10 and Aug. 28-31.
With trips to face the Mets, Nationals (June 17-18) and Phillies (Aug. 5-7), and visits to Houston by the Nationals (April 29-30), Braves (June 24-26) and Marlins (July 25-27), the Astros will face the National League East in Interleague Play, as well as the NL West's Arizona Diamondbacks (in Phoenix on June 9-10 and in Houston on June 11-12).
It will mark the Astros' first trips to Citi Field, Nationals Park in Washington and Citizens Bank Ballpark since they were in the NL in 2012.
In their second season in the AL West, the Astros will play host to the Rangers and A's for 10 games each and the Angels and Mariners nine times each. They will play in Anaheim and Seattle for 10 games and at Arlington and Oakland for nine games.
The Astros' longest homestand of the season covers 10 games -- three against the Marlins (July 25-27) and A's (July 28-30) and four against the Blue Jays (July 31-Aug. 3).
The club has two 10-game road trips -- May 19-28 at the Angels (three games), Mariners (four games) and Royals (three games) and Aug. 14-24 against the Red Sox (four games), Yankees (three games) and Indians (three games).
Houston closes the season with 15 of its final 22 games on the road.
