Down the Line with Dave
March 14, 2017
We're just weeks away from Opening Night. I spent this past weekend at Hohokam Stadium and it was great to see so many A's fans in Green and Gold at our home away from home in Mesa. The ballpark experience in Mesa is top notch and I encourage all A's fans to take a trip to the desert at some point.
When I became president I immediately focused on making sure our fans' voices are heard. We've made a number of improvements to the Coliseum this offseason because of you and your suggestions.
Earlier today on Facebook Live, I announced we will offer nearly 40 new or improved food options throughout the ballpark this season. Along with our executive chef, I highlighted some of these new items including:
- Colossal Dog (throughout ballpark)
- A's Signature Super Nachos (Sections 102, 106, 128, 220)
- Bacon Wrapped Colossal Dog (Sections 117, 205, 229)
- Signature Sidewinder Garlic Fries (Section 116)
- Loaded Tater TotsSection 123)
- Chicken N' Waffles(Section 111)
- California Burger (Section 132)
- Ahi Poke Tacos (Shibe Park Tavern)
- Caprese Turkey Burger (Shibe Park Tavern)
- S'Mores Lava Cake (Shibe Park Tavern)
I've tried all of these items and they are amazing. I can't wait to hear what you think of them.
What goes great with a Colossal Dog or A's Signature Super Nachos? One of the 91 beers we will offer this year. We have reduced beer prices on the 77 20oz draft beers that are on tap at the ballpark. All premium and craft draft beers are now $10 and all domestic drafts are $8.
And, for those wine drinkers, we are happy to offer A's branded wine: The Swingin' A's Chardonnay and Bill King Holy Toledo Reserve Cabernet. Both wines are 100% California grown and have been blended exclusively for fans of the Oakland A's.
These changes are a direct result of you, our fans, and we want to hear more. For the next week, you can participate in our #AthleticsFoodie contest on Twitter. Tell us your most creative and original idea for a new food item for a chance to win four tickets to Opening Night on April 3. We'll pick the top five most compelling entries and then fans can vote for the winner. Tweet us your idea using #AthleticsFoodie. Who knows, we may end up offering it at the Coliseum.
As always, thanks for your support of Oakland A's baseball. I look forward to seeing you at the ballpark this season.
Dave Kaval, President of the Oakland Athletics
