A's Acquire OF Craig Gentry and RHP Josh Lindblom from Texas

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's acquired outfielder Craig Gentry and right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom from the Texas in exchange for outfielder Michael Choice and minor league infielder Chris Bostick.

Gentry batted .280 with two home runs and 22 RBI in 106 games with Texas last year. He established career-highs in runs (39), triples (4), home runs, walks (29) and stolen bases (24). Gentry was 24-for-27 (88.9%) in stolen base attempts, which was the third best percentage in the American League and sixth best in Rangers history. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter started 49 games in center field and 20 in left field and also went 6-for-22 (.273) with six walks as a pinch hitter. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 10^th round of the 2006 draft and is a .280 career hitter in 323 games over the last five seasons, including .292 with 37 stolen bases in 228 games over the last two years.

Lindblom was 1-3 with a 5.46 ERA in eight games, including five starts, over three stints with Texas in 2013. The starts were his first as a Major Leaguer and his first at any level since 2010 at Triple-A Albuquerque. He also went 8-4 with a 3.08 ERA in 20 games, 18 starts, with Triple-A Round Rock. With the Express, he held the opposition to a .214 batting average, including .207 against left-handed hitters and .184 with runners in scoring position. The 26-year-old right-hander made his ML debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2011 and is 5-8 with a 3.82 ERA in 109 games, including five starts, in three seasons with Los Angeles (2011-12), Philadelphia (2012) and Texas (2013).

Choice made his Major League debut with the A's last September and went 5-for-18 (.278) with a double and a walk in nine games. He spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Sacramento where he batted a career-high .302 with 14 home runs and a career-high 89 RBI in 132 games. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter also had career-highs in games, at bats (510), runs (90), hits (154), doubles (29), walks (69) and on-base percentage (.390). Choice was the A's first round draft pick in 2010 and is a .290 career hitter with 61 home runs and 255 RBI in 371 games over four seasons in the minors.

Bostick spent the entire 2013 season at Single-A Beloit where he batted .282 with 14 home runs and 89 RBI in 129 games. He added 51 walks for a .354 on-base percentage and stole 25 bases. Bostick was originally drafted by the A's in the 44^th round of the 2011 draft and has a .282 average in 213 games over three seasons in the minors.
