A's agree to terms with RHP Fernando Rodriguez on one-year contract

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez on a one-year contract for the 2014 season, the club announced today. Rodriguez was one of nine arbitration eligible players on the A's roster. All the remaining unsigned players on the A's roster have been tendered contracts for the 2014 season.

Rodriguez was acquired by the A's from Houston along with Jed Lowrie for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock and Max Stassi on Feb. 4, 2013. He posted a 10.13 ERA in four spring training appearances before going on the disabled list March 23 with a sprained right elbow. The 29-year-old right-hander underwent successful UCL reconstruction surgery on the elbow March 27. The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff at the Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston, Texas. Rodriguez is 4-13 with a 4.89 ERA in 119 career relief appearances with the Los Angeles Angels (2009) and Houston Astros (2011-12).
