A's Designate LHP Brad Mills for Assignment

Trade International Slot to Milwaukee for Minor League RHP Rodolfo Fernandez

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's designated left-handed pitcher Brad Mills for assignment to clear a roster spot for right-handed pitcher Jason Hammel, the club announced today. The A's also traded International Slot #57, worth $339,000, to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league right-handed pitcher Rodolfo Fernandez.

Mills was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers organization in a minor league trade June 17 in exchange for cash considerations and was selected by Oakland June 20. He went 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA in three starts for the A's. Prior to joining Oakland, he had spent the entire season at Triple-A Nashville where he went 4-2 with a 1.56 ERA and .190 opponents batting average in 14 games, including 12 starts.

Fernandez is 1-0 with two saves and a 2.84 ERA in 14 relief appearances with Single-A Wisconsin. He has held the opposition to a .222 batting average and allowed just one home run in 31.1 innings.
