OAKLAND -- The Oakland Athletics have announced that the club has extended its player development contract with Short Season-A Vermont of the New York-Penn League through the 2020 season. The Vermont Lake Monsters have been an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics organization since 2011.
"We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Vermont; Ray Pecor, Kyle Bostwick, and the entire organization have been incredible partners," said A's General Manager David Forst. "Our players feel welcomed in Burlington and it continues to be a great place for them to start their professional careers."
In the eight seasons as an Oakland A's affiliate, Vermont has captured two New York- Penn League Division titles (2011 & 2017) and has produced current Athletics Matt Olson, Chad Pinder and Lou Trivino. Since 1994, Vermont has shaped over 100 Major League players and nine players currently on the Athletics 40-man roster.
The Lake Monsters play their home games at 4,000-seat Centennial Field, located on the University of Vermont campus in Burlington, Vermont. Centennial Field is one of the oldest ballparks still in use in professional baseball, dating back to 1906. Vermont was first an affiliate of the Montreal Expos (1977-2004), followed by the Washington Nationals (2005-2010) before becoming a member of the A's.
