A's medical update on right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs

Triggs underwent successful thoracic outlet surgery on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The surgery, a first rib resection and scalenectomy, was performed by Dr. Gregory Pearl from the Texas Vascular Associates in Dallas, Texas.

The Oakland A's announced the following medical update on right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs:
Triggs underwent successful thoracic outlet surgery on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The surgery, a first rib resection and scalenectomy, was performed by Dr. Gregory Pearl from the Texas Vascular Associates in Dallas, Texas.
Triggs, 27, was 3-1 with a 5.23 ERA (24 er, 41.1 ip) with 43 strikeouts in nine starts with Oakland this season. He began the season in the A's rotation before going on the 10-day disabled list with right arm nerve irritation on May 18. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on July 13. He made one rehab appearance with Stockton during the postseason on Sept. 5 vs. Visalia. This is the second season in a row that he has ended the year on the disabled list after suffering a strained left hip in 2017.
