A's Recall 1B Nate Freiman from Sacramento

Place OF Josh Reddick on 15-Day DL

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics announced today that they have recalled first baseman Nate Freiman from Triple-A Sacramento and placed outfielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee strain.

Freiman, who spent the entire 2013 season with Oakland and batted .274 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 80 games, is hitting .277 with 20 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and 69 RBI in 76 games with Sacramento. His RBI total leads the Pacific Coast League while his homers are tied for seventh in the PCL. The 6-8, 250-pound Freiman was originally claimed off waivers by the A's from the Houston Astros March 23, 2013.

This is the second time this season that Reddick has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. He initially was sidelined when he suffered a hyperextended right knee in Oakland's 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels May 31 at O.co Coliseum. He was placed on the DL June 3, retroactive to June 1, and then was reinstated June 24 after a rehab stint. Since his return, he had batted (5 for 11) with three RBI in four starts in right field before reinjuring his knee in last night's game.

Freiman's 2014 statistics with Triple-A Sacramento as well as his Major League career statistics:

FREIMAN AVG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS SLG OBP
Sacramento .277 76 296 45 82 20 1 14 69 37 69 0 0 .493 .361
