The Oakland A's recalled outfielder Jake Smolinski from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt to Nashville, the club announced today.

Smolinski was on the A's Opening Day roster and hit .118 with two RBI in 16 games before he was optioned to Nashville May 16. He batted .260 with seven home runs and 12 RBI in 21 games with the Sounds and added 11 11 walks for a .360 on-base percentage. The home runs tied for third most in the Pacific Coast League after joining Nashville on May 17. The 29-year-old right-handed hitter is batting .355 with five home runs and eight RBI over his last nine games.

Bassitt was recalled yesterday for his third stint with the A's this year but made his first appearance with a start against Kansas City. He took the loss in a 2-0 decision, despite allowing just one run on three hits in 7.0 innings. It was his first Major League appearance since undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery on May 6, 2016.
