A's to host Spirit Week activities March 23-28

A week of events to celebrate the start of baseball

OAKLAND, Calif. -- To celebrate the start of the 50th anniversary season in Oakland, the Oakland A's will host fan and community events, giveaways, and special appearances during the Oakland A's Spirit Week, Friday, March 23 - Wednesday, March 28. The week will culminate with Opening Day on Thursday, March 29 when the A's play host to the Los Angeles Angels at 1:05 p.m. at the Oakland Coliseum.
 
Oakland A's Spirit Week events include: 
 
Friday, March 23, 11 a.m.: Green Machine visits throughout the East Bay. The A's experiential vehicle, the Green Machine, and Stomper will make several stops throughout the East Bay. The A's will distribute swag and host a cap trade-in. Fans will also be able to win prizes, tickets, and merchandise. Fans can follow the A's on Twitter for location announcements. 
 
Sunday, March 25, 1:05 p.m.: Cap trade-in at A's exhibition game. Fans can trade in their San Francisco Giants cap for a new A's cap at the end of the ramp on the BART plaza when the team hosts the Giants at the Oakland Coliseum.  
 
Tuesday, March 27: Lincoln Elementary School recess takeover. A's and Stomper will join recess at a local Oakland elementary school on Tuesday morning.  
 
Tuesday, March 27, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Media preview event. Members of the media will be able to sample ballpark food offerings, view a number of the season's promotional items and merchandise, and tour new areas of the ballpark like The Treehouse and the Farm. A's President Dave Kaval and COO Chris Giles will also be available for interviews at the media preview event.  
 
Wednesday, March 28, 12:30 p.m.: A's Flag Raising at Oakland City Hall. A's President Dave Kaval and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf will raise the A's flag above Oakland City Hall.  
 
Wednesday, March 28, 6 p.m.: Oakland A's Community Fund 50th Anniversary Gala. A's alumni, partners, and community members will enjoy a "baseball chic" gala to celebrate the team's 50 years in Oakland. All proceeds will benefit the team's charitable arm, the Oakland A's Community Fund.
