OAKLAND -- Jake Odorizzi and Sean Manaea were at their best Friday night. And the pair did what Major League starters do when they're at the top of their game, they posted zeroes, lots of zeroes.
Ultimately, each came away with a no-decision despite matching up with eight scoreless innings and not a walk between them in the A's 1-0 win in 13 innings at the Oakland Coliseum. The loss snapped the Rays' three-game winning streak.
Ryon Healy started the winning rally when he led off the 13th inning with a double to right off the Rays' fifth pitcher of the night, Dylan Floro. One out later, Coco Crisp singled to left to drive home Healy for the walk-off win. 
For the veteran Crisp, it was his eighth career game-ending hit, and his sixth with the A's.
"I just try to stay within myself and try not to do too much," Crisp said. "It's been paying off this year. When I get in those situations, I've been able to lock it in."

Manaea retired the first 14 Rays batters before Corey Dickerson singled through the right side of the infield. The left-hander allowed no runs on five hits while striking out seven before giving way to Ryan Madson, who started the ninth.
"He's pitched some good games but not like that," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "That's the best. … When we heard about our best pitching prospect coming up, that was the type of game you look for from your top pitching prospect. That was dominant."

Odorizzi allowed no runs on five hits and struck out five before Xavier Cedeño took over to start the ninth. 
"You saw two starting pitchers who had everything going," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "That's probably why we had such a speedy game for the first nine innings. But I thought we competed really well."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Manaea rolls along: Melvin elected to have Manaea finish the eighth inning, despite a runner standing on third base and inherited-runner specialist Ryan Dull ready in the bullpen. Manaea responded, getting Brandon Guyer to fly out, capping a superb start. He pitched a shutout for the third time since coming off the disabled list on June 29 with a left forearm strain, bringing his ERA to 2.47 in his last five starts. Maile nails two:Arismendy Alcantara tried to steal second with two outs in the third and Rays catcher Luke Maile threw him out. The A's tested him again in the eighth when Jake Smolinski tried to steal second and Maile threw a strike to shortstop Tim Beckham for the second out. Maile has now thrown out three of five would-be basestealers. 
"I think the starters definitely have some comfort with [Maile] back there," Cash said. "There's something to be said for the right fingers. Seems like he's had them for the most part since he's been here. He's called tremendous games. He's blocked the ball well. And obviously the throwing we saw today, just tremendous throwing."

Another no-decision for Odo: Odorizzi did everything he could by not allowing a run in the eight innings he pitched. Still, he came away with his Major League-leading 12th no-decision. He only had 10 in 2015. In six of his no-decisions, he has allowed one run or less. Talk about hard luck, Odorizzi is 13-14 since 2015 and has received just 24 runs in his 14 losses. More >

Smo' can't go: Smolinski singled with one out in the eighth, giving the A's their first baserunner since the fifth inning, but was thrown out trying to steal second by Maile the next at-bat. It proved to be costly, as Yonder Alonso reached on a Kevin Kiermaier error and Ryon Healy singled, putting runners on the corners. Danny Valencia popped out to end an inning where Smolinski likely would've been the deciding run.

Rays:Drew Smyly (2-11, 5.64) will make his 19th start of the season Saturday at 9:05 p.m. ET at the Coliseum. He is 0-7 over his last 10 starts, the longest losing streak by a Rays starter since Chris Archer from Sept. 6, 2015-April 20, 2016 (seven) and the longest in a single season since James Shields from May 25-June 29, 2010 (7). He is 1-2 with a 6.87 ERA and a save in six career appearances against the Athletics.
A's:Kendall Graveman (6-6, 4.25 ERA) brings a five-game winning streak to the mound at 6:05 p.m. PT Saturday. The righty is 5-0 with a 3.29 ERA over his last nine starts, including a win over the Astros Monday where he allowed three runs (two earned) in seven innings.
